Acts 2: Repent. Reading this chapter the spirit cried out repent! Repent for everything I have done with wrong motives and intentions. Repent for every time my flesh creeps in and reminds me I'm no one who can do nothing and I believe it so I fail to Act for the child without protection, or the widow without help and company or the hungry man who hasn't been fed! Repent for every time I chose to complain over my circumstances instead of praising God and being in favor and goodwill with the people; because that is when the Lord uses us to add to his kingdom, when we see passed our puzzle piece. You might have gathered a different angle that's is one of the many things that fascinates me about his words and teachings, so many different messages and lessons are always evolving out of the bible from the same text as the followers of Christ from thousands of years ago. What did you pull from Acts 2 I would love for you to share in the comments or at the next A.C.T.S meeting!
Acts3: Why are you amazed? I love the disciples attitude for multiple reasons, first we come to verse 6, we see a man crippled since birth begging for silver or gold. Peter reacts in such a way that challenges us to remember the POWER IN THE NAME. It isn't just a song, they aren't just words. He responds "Silver and gold I do not have; but what I do have, that I give to you; in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk! If you don't know the ending, the man grabs Peter's hand stands and walks. Was is Peter's faith alone? Was it the man's desperation for a miracle mixed with Peter's faith? Did the man know Jesus? I have no clue, I am not a bible scholar, but I do know that Peter's faith was strong enough to react in such a humble way that tells us a little bit more about the depth of the power of his faith. In verses 12-26 he questions the people surrounding him in amazement "why do you keep staring at us, as though by our power or piety we had made this man able to walk?" he continues this chapter of Acts explaining that HIS POWER COMES FROM JESUS! He concludes be recapping on the way Jesus was treated and how the complete disregard of everything that the prophets foretold that pointed to Jesus led to the death of an innocent man but that besides our wrong doings God prepared a way for us to "turn from our wickedness and evil ways" and be BLESSED by him! He tells the people REPENT and be one with the people who choose the way of life that God has called us to and I am telling you.... IT IS GOOD when you surrender and open up and let HIM refresh you! After peter offers this information and insight to the people the number of people who began to follow the way of Jesus increased by the hundreds!
side note: Listen to "Fill Me up" by Jesus Culture, if you want a minute just to reflect, I can not get it out of my head as I write this so I am going to break there and allow you to breath in deep the truths you have learned from the text and I pray that you are opened up and filled up by the spirit that Jesus left here for us to operate in.
